ROGERS, AR- The Providence boys and girls golf teams captured the team championship at the Patriot Invitational Tuesday, September 6th in Rogers, AR. It was the first team championship this season for the girls and the second team win for the boys.
Kate Siemens claimed the girls individual title, firing a season and personal best score to win by three shots over Maddy Fendalyn of OCA.
Gillian Carson finished in a tie for third, while
Shiloh Smith rounded out the scoring with a sixth place finish.
On the boys side,
Stiles Hunter fired a one under par round ( -1) to win the individual top spot. Alex Gaston and
Stevens Hunter both carded rounds of plus two (+2) to tie for second overall, and round out the team scoring for Providence. Carson Oliphant (OCA), and Wyatt Vinson tTNS) finished tied for fourth at plus seven (+7).
NEXT UP: THe Providence golfers will participate in the First Tee Confidence Classic Sept. 12-13 at Bella Vista CC. The tournament brings together the top golf teams from across the NWA region to participate. Last season the Patriot boys narrowly lost to Bentonville West to finish in second place in the 15 team field. The girls team placed sixth overall in the two day event.
