OKLAHOMA CITY - After a near 30 win season, a 1,000 point scorer, three regular season tournament championships, and a 3A HCAA Regional Championship, the Lady Patriots needed one more win to cap one of the best seasons in program history. With sophomore
Lola Kiraga officially ruled out for the game due to a knee injury suffered the previous night, everyone knew it would be a tough task to accomplish.
Anna Imbo's buzzer beater to get them into the Championship game was the final cap on one of the most emotion filled nights in recollection. The emotions of watching a teammate go down in pain and the grinding nature of their semifinal victory against Destiny Christian had left the Patriots with little left in the tank. Despite the odds, Providence came out swinging and kept it even until the second half. Led by Junior
Ava Maner and Senior
Lydia Shaddox, they kept fighting all the way until the end. Ultimately the Sunrise Christian Buffaloes used their depth to their advantage, full-court pressing for the majority of the game and tiring out the guards of Providence. The final score was 31-46 in favor of Sunrise Christian, who won the 3A HCAA State Championship for the first time in school history.
