Imbo's Buzzer Beater Sends Lady Patriots to the Finals

2/27/2023 2:26:00 PM

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Lady Patriots magical 2022-2023 run continued Friday night in a true showing of grit and determination in the face of adversity. In a highly anticipated matchup against Destiny Christian, the Patriots headed in to the game confident in their chances of securing another victory over the Wildcats. With all the momentum in their favor, Coach Jeff Daniels found his team ahead by double digit midway through the second quarter and riding high on confidence - but it all went away in one painful moment when Sophomore Lola Kiraga went down with a knee injury. Destiny took full advantage of Lola's absence and the devastation that the Providence players felt, crawling back into the game and keeping it tight all the way to the wire. After a back and forth 4th quarter and a score tied at 47-47, the Patriots had the ball with 20 seconds left and an opportunity to take the lead. Junior Ava Maner drove the lane and kicked it back out to Junior Anna Imbo, and she knocked down the deep three-pointer with less than 2 seconds to go, sealing the HCAA semi-final victory for Providence.

UP NEXT - The Patriots will play tomorrow against Sunrise Christian for the HCAA Championship Game.
