THE RUNDOWN

The Providence Academy Lady Patriots Basketball Team (7-1) spent the week in Lavaca, AR, returning to the Golden Arrow Classic for the sixth time in seven years.  Entering the tournament as the #2 seed, the team's road to the championship game included a thirty-six-point victory against County Line (0-8) and a forty-four-point win versus Pea Ridge (7-4).

The Championship game saw the Lady Patriots matched up against the Lavaca Lady Indians (7-4).  Providence got off to a slow start in what was an incredibly physical game, but eventually stretched out to a 35-23 lead at halftime.  Lavaca fought their way back to make it a five-point game with 1:50 to play, but hustle plays by Lola Kiraga and Anna Imbo helped stretch the lead back to double digits with just under a minute to go.  As the clock hit 0.0, the scoreboard showed 64-57 and the Lady Patriots celebrated the program's second Golden Arrow Classic tournament win and the team's fifth consecutive victory this season.
